Revival spreading in KY again!

Written by Pastor Dwight Cunkle

O God, revive us again: Psalm 85:6-7  Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.”

These verses were set to music in my morning devotion then I read the account of new Holy Spirit revival in KY.

Revival again in KY near Lexington!! Spontaneous worship and confession as Holy Spirit moves on people amidst testimonies and preaching.

We’ve been calling for revival to come here in OKC – a transforming move of Holy Spirit. I have been blessed to be in many meetings over the years where God was moving powerfully-we have had some last year right here in downtown OKC-but not a sustained revival-not yet.

It is a sovereign work of God but we can posture ourselves before Him and practice deeper prayer and confession. We can be more filled with Holy Spirit, receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, go deeper and deeper in worship and intimacy and love with God. There will be confession of sin and testimonies of changed lives. There will be emotional healing and the Gospel will be preached and people swept into God’s kingdom. Communities and cities can be transformed when the church is transformed!

I took several courses at Asbury Seminary a decade after the 1970 revival. Paul Petrie, our pastor in Lexington KY was a part of the 1970 Charismatic outpouring in that revival.

“What is happening at Asbury is something pleasing to God, as His children are uniting to sing His praise.”

That is a similar theme to the 1970 revivalat Asbury, where 2,000 witness teams were sent to 130 colleges to share of their experience. On Saturday afternoon, campus ministers hosted a dinner for college campus student leaders to hear of how they might share in a similar event at their campus.

in 1801, a Second  Great Awakening in America happened in another rural area near Lexington, KY. It was full of Holy Spirit manifestations amd salvations with much spontaneous worship.

The Cane Ridge Revival was a large camp meeting that was held in Cane Ridge, Kentucky, from August 6 to August 12 or 13, 1801.[1][2] It has been described as the “[l]argest and most famous camp meeting of the Second Great Awakening.”[3] This camp meeting was arguably the pioneering event in the history of frontier camp meetings in America.[4]

Let’s seek God for His Sovereign reviving in us and through us!
