Happy Saturday, Church family!
Tomorrow is the Lord’s Day, and of course, that means we have the joy of gathering together for the sake of honoring Christ and building one another up. Join us in the morning at 9:30 for Fellowship Groups and 10:45 for our Worship Service. Our focus passage for tomorrow is Acts 4:1–22. We will be looking into what it looks like when the Holy Spirit empowers us to face the various challenges the world brings as we minister with Jesus and preach His Word. I believe the Lord has something to say to us, so let’s come together with hearts and minds ready to listen to what He is saying.
We continue to pray for the family of Peggy Harris, especially our dear friend Roger and his beloved wife. Losing a mother is never easy, and our hearts go out to them. We praise the Lord for answers to prayer for Scott Walsh, who spent some time in the hospital this past week; the Lord has graciously revealed that nothing major was wrong. We pray that he will no longer suffer from these painful migraines and that the Lord will bring complete healing and recovery. We also pray for Anne McMillan, who spent time in the hospital with pneumonia and low oxygen levels. Thank the Lord she is being released today and her numbers are much better! May the Lord bring healing grace to Anne as well. Lastly, Eric and Lindsay Runnels asked me to inform the church that she had a miscarriage last week. She is still processing this in her heart with the Lord and doesn’t want to talk about it at this time, but she would like for us to be praying for her. Our hearts go out to anyone going through sickness or suffering. Please know that your church family is here for you, and if you have any prayer needs, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or one of the elders or deacons. It is our joy to be present in your lives and to minister with and to you.
As we announced last Sunday, we are planning a short business session after church on August 30th. The elders would like to appoint Dr. Wes Lee to the Elder Board, where he would join Dwight, Scott, and me as an elder for our church. We believe that Dr. Lee is well-qualified, possessing the right character, humility, and wisdom according to Paul’s charges in 1 Timothy and Titus. This comes as an official recommendation from the current sitting elders, so per our Constitution & Bylaws, the next step is to hold a vote of affirmation before the active members of the church body. If you have any questions or concerns regarding Dr. Lee becoming an elder, please be sure to contact Dwight, Scott, or me before the meeting on the 30th. The business session will not be for discussion, but strictly for taking the vote. All discussion should happen beforehand, and we elders are very open to answering any questions you may have. We will also be giving a brief financial update at that meeting.
I am looking forward to being with you tomorrow! May the grace and peace of the Lord rest on you all. See you in the morning.
In His steps,
Pastor Nick
