Matthew is the Senior Pastor for Christ Church North Bay in Novato, CA. Dawn is a skilled and dedicated Christian Therapist and a devoted helpmate for her husband. They minister beautifully together, and I know we will be blessed by the Lord through them tomorrow.

Tomorrow, during our Fellowship Group time at 9:30, Matthew and Dawn will be leading us in a prophetic ministry and prayer time. As Scripture says, we are to “pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy” (1 Corinthians 14:1). The Holy Spirit does not give us these words through Paul as a suggestion, but as a command. This is a very important area for every Christian to grow in, as it is clearly the Lord’s will for us to be strong in His voice and encouraging others as He leads us to do so. I believe this will be a meaningful time for all who are in attendance. Following this time, we will have our normal worship service at 10:45. Come ready to encounter the Lord as my dear friend Matthew preaches.

I want to take a moment to remind us that yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City. This is a somber reminder to us all that this world is a deeply broken place. I am sad as I remember the lives lost, many of them probably did not know the Lord. That reality is a deeper sadness than death itself could ever be. Let’s pray together for the peace of the United States of America, and that the Lord will reveal his kingdom in all the dark places. We will never forget the lives lost in these tragedies, and the atrocities sinful man is capable of. And yet even in the midst of deep and great sorrow we remember that our Lord Jesus Christ has entered into this world in order to bring restoration to it. Jesus Christ is the Word that the Father has spoken over this world, and over you and me. Though brokenness remains for a season, the time of full restoration is coming in Christ. I hope and pray that you and I will take seriously the call to pray and to do our part to bring God’s Kingdom into the brokenness around us. May the Lord bring comfort and peace to the many people who are still, all these years later, grieving the loss of loved ones on that day 25 years ago. May the response of the grieving be to turn to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, that they might receive true comfort in him.

May the grace of the Lord rest on you today. May He give your heart peace along with the joy of knowing that you belong to Him. I would also encourage each one of us to be praying for one another as the Lord brings us to mind. The Lord knows we need each other, and we need prayer daily. Thankfully, His grace is sufficient for us and He is perfectly willing to intervene in every situation we may find ourselves in. Let us ask God to do abundantly more than we can imagine, just as He said that He would. I love and appreciate you all, and I very much look forward to being with you tomorrow.

In His steps,

Pastor Nick

“Brothers, do not be children in your thinking.
