I love living in a country where we celebrate labor by taking the day off. Weekends are always nice, but three-day weekends are even better.

Labor Day was instituted as a day to honor workers, as it is true that our country is largely built upon the work of everyday Americans. Resting and reflecting on the goodness of our work is a biblical principle, as this is exactly what God did after He created everything. This is why He instituted for us the seventh day, or the Sabbath, as a day of rest. He knew that we would need to work hard but also that we would need to rest well. So it is very fitting to take a day of rest together as a nation to honor people who work hard, and also to reflect on the goodness of God which is displayed in the human impulse to fill this Earth and subdue it. May the Lord grant each of us grace to pause and reflect on all that He has empowered us to do. To Him be all the glory!

I look forward to our Lord’s Day gathering tomorrow. Our focus Bible passage is Acts 4:32–37. Here we get a beautiful picture of what it looks like when the gospel takes root in a church. It will be a joy to dive into this passage with you. Join us in the morning for Fellowship Groups at 9:30 and for Worship Service at 10:45.

Don’t forget that we are hosting the Kingdom Ministries Annual Meeting this week. There will be evening meetings each day at 6:30 from Wednesday to Friday, and morning meetings on Thursday and Friday at 10am with fellowship and prayer at Serve at 9am. We would love to have you with us for as many meetings as you are able to attend.

Let’s continue to pray for one another, especially as the Lord brings people to mind. Esthermarie is continuing to recover from her surgery this past week. Linda Ludwig is also recovering from having two stents put in her heart. Stephen Hilligoss had a planned procedure to restart his heart and normalize his heart rate, but they were not able to proceed due to some complications. We are praying that his heart rate and blood pressure will be normalized. May the Lord direct his next steps.

May the grace and peace of the Lord be with each one of you. See you tomorrow!

Pastor Nick

“Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common.”
— Acts 4:32

Good afternoon church family,Happy Labor Day Weekend to you all!
